About Xavier Andujar

Portrait of Xavier Andujar, freelance photographer based in Japan.

Introduction

I’m Xavier Andujar, a freelance photographer born in 1982 in Lyon, France, and currently based in Nishinomiya, Japan, where I have been living since 2014. My work spans across reportage, documentary, corporate, portrait, and event photography. With a deep passion for storytelling through the lens, I capture the essence of life, particularly in the vibrant and culturally rich landscape of Japan.

Experience and Expertise

Since moving to Japan, I’ve immersed myself in both the local culture and the craft of photography. My portfolio reflects a wide range of projects, from documenting the subtleties of everyday life in Japan to providing professional corporate photography services for international and local clients. My bilingual fluency and understanding of both Japanese and Western cultures allow me to navigate and bridge cultural differences, ensuring that each project is executed with precision and sensitivity.

In addition to my photographic work, I offer guiding services in Japan, where I help clients unlock the intricacies of Japanese society. I take pride in introducing people to places and experiences that are often hidden from the typical tourist path, providing them with the tools to better understand the country and its culture.

Creative Pursuits

My creative journey doesn’t stop at photography. I began making music as a teenager and spent about fifteen years evolving in the music industry. Today, I continue to produce music, working on personal projects and composing for other creators.

In 2022, I co-founded Koga Photos. with my friends Nicolas Datiche and Fred Mery, a collective dedicated to pushing the boundaries of documentary photography and telling stories that matter.

My Photography Philosophy

For me, photography is more than just capturing images—it’s about telling stories that resonate on both an emotional and cultural level. Whether it’s a candid moment at a corporate event or the quiet beauty of a Japanese street scene, I strive to create visuals that are authentic, compelling, and reflective of the world as it is.
